In this issue we want to share with you some exciting news about tips to help increase the page speed of your website in order to generate more traffic.

Announcement: Unique Visitors in Your Statistics Report
Historically, the Statistics Report in the Partner Center has showed you clicks. This is not necessarily the most complete measure as conversions are generally considered on a visitor level i.e. how many percent of your visitors make a booking. To improve the measures available to you, we have therefore replaced the old clicks with unique visitors (UVs).

This offers a number of improvements including a more correct conversion measure and a better overview of what your visitors and traffic is really worth. It also becomes easier to cross reference with other sources such as Google Analytics.

Improving your website’s page speed
In today’s day and age a website has gone through significant innovation since they were first used. HTML is no longer just a markup language for documents with titles, summaries and tables but they serve as the underlying code for complex web pages and web applications.

Everyday also the expectations of the end users are increasing and with the increasing use of mobile internet over the years the speed of the internet and processor power has relatively decreased while the expectations stay the same.

It is important to make you sure that the speed of your website is optimal because of the following reasons:
  • User Experience

A website that loads faster results in a better experience for the end user (your visitor).

  • Conversion Rate

A less amount of visitors will leave your website (bounce rate will be less) when your website is optimized for speed. This increases the chance of a higher click-through and conversion rate.

  • Generating more visitors

Google includes the page speed of webpages as one of their ranking factors. A website that is optimized for speed is likely to rank higher than a website that is not optimized for speed.

There are a lot of tools available online which can help you detect the areas on your website where there is speed to gain.

Examples and links that can help you with optimizing your website’s speed are:
